Technical description

The burner control unit, or KIM, has an error

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's main brain and its internal security key stop communicating with each other. It is usually caused by a hardware failure where the electronic circuit boards can no longer verify that the burner is safe to light. The boiler stops immediately because it cannot confirm it has the correct settings to operate the gas valve safely.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
