Common problems guide

The most common Ferroli Energy Top B problems

The faults most likely to send a Ferroli Energy Top B into lockout — with plain-English causes, what to check first, estimated repair costs and whether you need a Gas Safe engineer.

This model is discontinued. Parts can be harder to source and expensive. If repair costs are mounting, a new A-rated boiler may be the smarter choice.

The 6 most common faults

01
F37 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the system is too low.

What to try first

Locate the filling loop, which is usually a flexible silver hose connected under your boiler.Open the valves at both ends of the hose to allow water into the system.Monitor the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler until the needle reaches the green zone (typically 1.0 to 1.5 bar).Close both valves tightly and remove the filling loop if it is not a permanent fixture.

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Filling loop, Pressure relief valve, Pressure sensor

02
F07 High Engineer

Your boiler has detected that the exhaust gases leaving the system are getting too hot, so it has shut down to prevent potential damage or overheating.

Est. cost
£150-350
Parts
Flue gas sensor, Heat exchanger
Full guide for F07
03
F10 High Engineer

Your boiler is struggling to detect the flow of water because of a faulty electronic sensor, which will prevent your heating and hot water from working.

Est. cost
£150-250
Parts
Flow temperature probe, NTC sensor
Full guide for F10
04
F11 High Engineer

Your boiler is struggling to detect the flow of water through the system, which means it has stopped working to prevent potential damage.

Est. cost
£150-250
Parts
Flow sensor, Wiring harness
Full guide for F11
05
F13 High Engineer

Your boiler is struggling to detect the temperature of the water for your taps, which means it has stopped heating your hot water to keep the system safe.

Est. cost
£120-220
Parts
DHW temperature sensor, Wiring harness
Full guide for F13
06
F14 High Engineer

Your boiler is having trouble measuring the temperature of the water flowing through it due to a faulty sensor, which means it has safely shut down to prevent overheating.

Est. cost
£150-250
Parts
NTC temperature sensor, Wiring harness

Call a Gas Safe engineer if…

  • You can smell gas or see signs of a leak
  • The Ferroli shows an Emergency or High severity code
  • The boiler keeps locking out after repeated resets
  • You've tried the DIY checks and the fault hasn't cleared
  • There's visible water leaking from the boiler
  • The flame is yellow or orange instead of blue
