Technical description
Boiler has failed to light (initially may be due to air in the gas supply line).
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to start up but cannot successfully establish or detect a steady flame. The most common reasons include a lack of gas reaching the burner, a worn-out ignition spark, or a buildup of carbon on the sensor that tells the boiler it is safe to stay lit.
This issue can be more frequent during the first cold snap of winter when internal components like the gas valve may stick after being idle during the summer months.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
