What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to start up but cannot successfully establish or detect a steady flame. The most common reasons include a worn-out ignition electrode that can no longer create a spark, or a gas valve that isn't delivering enough fuel to the burner.

This fault can be more frequent during the first cold snap of autumn when internal components that have been idle over summer suddenly fail to operate correctly under strain.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
