Common problems guide

The most common Heatline Capriz Plus problems

The faults most likely to send a Heatline Capriz Plus into lockout — with plain-English causes, what to check first, estimated repair costs and whether you need a Gas Safe engineer.

This model is discontinued. Parts can be harder to source and expensive. If repair costs are mounting, a new A-rated boiler may be the smarter choice.

The 6 most common faults

01
F.22 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has detected that there is not enough water in the system to operate safely and has shut down as a precaution.

What to try first

Locate the filling loop (the flexible silver hose) underneath the boiler.Slowly open the one or two taps on the filling loop until you hear water entering.Monitor the pressure gauge and close the taps once the needle reaches between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.

Est. cost
£0-120
Parts
Filling loop valve, Pressure sensor, Expansion vessel

02
F.28 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has tried to light itself three times but failed, meaning your heating and hot water have stopped working.

What to try first

Check if your gas meter has credit and the isolation valve is open.Ensure other gas appliances in your home, like a hob, are working correctly.Press the Reset button on the boiler control panel to clear the lockout.

Est. cost
£100-350
Parts
Gas valve, Ignition electrodes, Spark generator
Full guide for F.28
03
F02 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has detected that the water pressure inside the system has become too high, causing it to shut down to prevent damage.

What to try first

Locate a radiator in your home with a bleed valvePlace a cloth and container under the valveSlowly open the valve to release air and a little water until the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler drops to between 1 and 1.5 barEnsure the valve is securely tightened once finished

Est. cost
£60-120
Parts
Pressure relief valve, Pressure sensor
Full guide for F02
04
F06 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the amount of water inside your heating system is too low to run safely.

What to try first

Locate the external filling loop (a flexible silver hose) underneath the boiler.Open the valves at both ends of the hose to slowly let water into the system.Monitor the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler until the needle reaches 1.5 bar.Close both valves firmly and ensure the hose is disconnected if required.

Est. cost
£80-120
Parts
Filling loop, Pressure relief valve, Pressure sensor
Full guide for F06
05
E04 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped because the water pressure inside the heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.

What to try first

Locate the external filling loop, which is a flexible silver hose connected to two valves under the boiler.Slowly open both valves to let mains water into the system until the boiler gauge reads 1.0 to 1.5 bar.Firmly close both valves and check for any leaks.

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Pressure relief valve, Expansion vessel, Pressure sensor
Full guide for E04
06
F0 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has detected that the water pressure inside the system is outside of the safe operating range, so it has shut down to prevent damage.

What to try first

Locate the filling loop (a silver flexible hose with one or two valves) underneath the boiler.Gradually open the valve(s) to let water in until the pressure gauge on the front panel reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Tighten the valves firmly and check to ensure the pressure remains stable.

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Filling loop, Pressure sensor, Expansion vessel

Call a Gas Safe engineer if…

  • You can smell gas or see signs of a leak
  • The Heatline shows an Emergency or High severity code
  • The boiler keeps locking out after repeated resets
  • You've tried the DIY checks and the fault hasn't cleared
  • There's visible water leaking from the boiler
  • The flame is yellow or orange instead of blue
