Technical description: Blank Display

What causes the Ideal BLANK DISPLAY fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's internal computer is not receiving electricity or has suffered a hardware failure. The most common reason is a blown fuse on the control board or a tripped circuit breaker, though it can also be caused by a complete failure of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) itself. Without a functional display, the boiler is unable to process any commands to provide heat or hot water.

This issue often occurs after summer periods when a power surge during a storm or a damp environment has affected the electronics before the first cold snap.

Typical repair cost £100-£350 (including labour)

DIY fix possible

Check if other appliances are working to ensure there isn't a general power cut.Inspect your main consumer unit (fuse box) to see if a circuit breaker has tripped.Locate the boiler's fused spur (a wall switch with a fuse) and ensure it is switched on.Try replacing the 3-amp fuse in the boiler's wall switch/spur with a new one.
