Technical description
Gas gas supply pressure inadequate at the appliance inlet during an ignition attempt
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler detects that the gas coming into the unit isn't at a high enough pressure to safely maintain a flame. The most common reasons include a blockage in the gas pipes, a faulty regulator outside at your meter, or an internal component like the gas valve failing to open fully. To protect your home, the boiler automatically shuts down because it cannot guarantee a stable and clean burn.
This issue sometimes surfaces during the first cold snap of winter when gas demand across the local network increases, exposing pre-existing weaknesses in your home's regulator or pipework.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
