The 6 most common faults

01
E1 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped because the water pressure inside the system has dropped too low.

What to try first

Locate the filling loop (usually a silver braided hose with one or two valves) connected to the boiler pipework.Slowly open the valves to allow mains water into the boiler until the gauge reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Close the valves firmly and check for any visible leaks around the pipework.

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Pressure relief valve, Pressure sensor, Expansion vessel

02
0.0 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.

What to try first

Locate the external filling loop, which is a flexible silver hose connected between two pipes under your boiler.Open the valves at both ends of the filling loop to allow water into the system until the pressure gauge reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Close both valves tightly and remove the filling loop if required by your specific setup.

Est. cost
£0-£100
Parts
Pressure relief valve, Pressure sensor, Expansion vessel

03
E2 High Engineer

Your boiler is detecting a flame inside before it has actually started the ignition process, which means it cannot safely turn on.

Est. cost
£120-250
Parts
Flame rectification electrode, Gas valve, Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
Full guide for E2
04
E5 High Engineer

Your boiler has stopped working because the mechanical fan responsible for pushing out exhaust gases is not spinning or responding as it should.

Est. cost
£200-350
Parts
Fan assembly, Wiring harness, Main PCB
Full guide for E5
05
10 High Engineer

Your boiler has detected a faulty temperature reading from its primary sensor, which prevents it from safely heating your home or water.

Est. cost
£120-220
Parts
Flow temperature sensor (NTC), Wiring harness
Full guide for 10
06
11 High Engineer

Your boiler has stopped working because it is unable to accurately measure the temperature of the water inside the unit.

Est. cost
£120-220
Parts
