Technical description

Ignition failure

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's internal computer tries to start the burner multiple times but cannot detect a successful flame. The most common reason is a problem with the gas supply or a worn-out ignition spark, but it can also be triggered by a build-up of debris on the internal sensors that monitor the fire.

This fault is more common during extreme cold spells, as the external gas regulator or condensate pipe can freeze, preventing the boiler from lighting safely.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
