Technical description
Sensor error
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control board receives conflicting or impossible data from its internal temperature sensors. It usually happens because a sensor has physically failed or because the wiring connecting them has become loose or damaged over time. Without accurate temperature readings, the boiler shuts down as a safety precaution to prevent overheating.
This fault is often more frequent when the heating is first turned on in autumn, as the sudden change in temperature can push aging sensors or stressed electrical components to their breaking point.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
