Technical description
Unsuccessful ignition for the second time
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler tries to light the flame twice but fails to detect a steady heat source. It is usually caused by a physical blockage in the burner area, a faulty ignition lead that cannot create a spark, or an incorrect mixture of gas and air preventing combustion.
This fault is slightly more common in winter because cold dampness can affect external gas regulators or cause condensation buildup inside the ignition components.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
