Technical description: No flame signal after ignition
What causes the Worcester Bosch 227 fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's internal control system cannot detect a flame after several attempts to light the gas. The most common reasons include a lack of gas supply to the unit, worn-out ignition parts that can no longer create a spark, or sensors that have become too dirty to 'see' the flame. It effectively means the boiler is entering a safety mode because it thinks it is unsafe to continue trying to ignite.
This fault is frequently seen during extreme cold snaps, as a frozen condensate pipe can back up into the boiler and prevent the burner from lighting.
