Technical description

Illuminates in the event of the burner failing to light, when incomplete lighting of the burner occurs or blockage of the condensate drain.

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the control board fails to detect a stable flame after several attempts to ignite the burner. The most common reasons are a temporary interruption in the gas supply, a build-up of carbon on the internal sensors, or a blockage in the drainage pipe that prevents waste water from leaving the unit.

This issue is particularly common during freezing winter temperatures, as the external condensate pipe can freeze solid and cause the boiler to shut down for safety.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
