Your boiler has lost track of the water temperature in one part of your heating system, so that section may not heat up properly until a engineer checks it.
What to check first
- Note the exact code shown on the boiler display and check whether heating and hot water are still working.
- Check the boiler pressure gauge and top up with the filling loop only if it reads below 1 bar, following the boiler manual.
- Switch the boiler off at the isolator or mains, wait 30 seconds, then switch it back on to see whether the fault clears.
- If the code returns, book a Gas Safe registered engineer and tell them the code is 4C.
Parts commonly replaced
- Flow temperature sensor
- Sensor lead or wiring harness
- Mixing valve actuator motor
