Technical description
Failure during start-up or operation: check ionisation, gas/air supply, and earth connection.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's internal sensor fails to detect a flame after several attempts to fire up. The most common reasons are a worn-out ignition probe that can no longer create a spark or a blockage in the gas supply preventing the fuel from reaching the burner.
This issue can occasionally appear during the first cold snap of autumn when internal components that have been idle over summer fail to operate correctly upon restart.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
