Your boiler has temporarily paused its burner to prevent it from switching on and off too frequently, which helps protect the components and save energy.

Monitor it

This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.

Technical description

Heating mode: Anti-cycling time. The anti-cycling time for heating mode is activated.

What causes this fault?

This occurs because your boiler has reached its target temperature very quickly and needs to pause before firing up again to protect its internal components. It often happens when your radiators are already warm or if the boiler is producing more heat than your home currently needs to maintain its temperature. This brief pause prevents 'short-cycling,' which reduces wear and tear and improves energy efficiency.

This is more common during the milder months of spring and autumn when your home requires only a small amount of heat to stay comfortable.

DIY fix possible

Wait 15 to 30 minutes for the internal timer to finishCheck that your room thermostat is turned up high enough to call for heatEnsure your radiator valves are open to allow heat to dissipate
