What causes this fault?

This occurs when your boiler reaches its target temperature too quickly, often because your radiators have already heated your home or are turned off. To prevent wasting energy and wearing out internal parts by clicking on and off constantly, the boiler enters a temporary 'rest' mode. It is waiting for the system water to cool down slightly before it begins the next heating cycle.

This is more common during the milder autumn and spring months when your home requires less heat to stay warm than in the peak of winter.

DIY fix possible

Check that your room thermostat is turned up higher than the current room temperature.Ensure at least one or two radiators have their valves fully open to allow heat to move away from the boiler.Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the countdown to end, as the boiler will usually restart automatically.
