High Lockout
37 on Ideal Maximiser SE

Your boiler's internal communication chip is either faulty or has come loose, causing the system to stop working.

Call an engineer soon

Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24 to 48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.

Technical description

BIM is defective or not properly connected (contact Ideal Care Technical helpline).

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's central brain fails to communicate with a small identity chip known as the BIM. This typically happens because the chip has vibrated loose from its socket over time or the electronic components on the chip itself have suffered a terminal failure. Without this connection, the boiler cannot verify which model it is and shuts down as a safety precaution.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
