Technical description
Indicates that the boiler has failed to ignite or has overheated, when this happens the boiler automatically shuts down and requires to be reset manually
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's internal sensors detect that the burners failed to light after several attempts or that the internal temperature has become dangerously high. The most common reasons include a lack of gas reaching the burner, a worn-out ignition spark, or a blockage that is preventing water from circulating properly through the heat exchanger.
This issue is more frequent during the first cold snap of autumn when components that have been idle over summer are suddenly forced to work at high temperatures.
Engineer required
This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
